Examinations and Dental X-rays

Examinations and Dental X-rays in Ogadent

During a dental examination, the dentist assesses the condition of the teeth, gums, and oral mucosa. The examination also includes checking the functionality of the bite, the wear on the teeth, the impact of any missing teeth on oral health, and the condition of the jaw joints.

It is advisable to undergo a dental examination regularly, even if there seems to be nothing abnormal in the mouth. Regular check-ups enable the early detection of oral diseases, making treatment easier, faster, and more cost-effective.

The examination conducted by the dentist can be supplemented with X-ray images if necessary. X-ray imaging is a key tool for detecting asymptomatic infections in the mouth and jaw areas, as inflammation located inside the jawbone is usually not visible to the eye. The most common types of dental X-ray examinations are panoramic imaging and small intraoral X-rays taken from inside the mouth. X-ray images are an important part of high-quality dental care.

In Ogadent, we are using modern digital X-ray imaging equipment.

A healthy mouth and well-cared-for teeth are an important part of overall health

Oral infections pose a significant threat to general health. They can impair the management and long-term prognosis of chronic illnesses such as rheumatism, diabetes, and hypertension, and increase the risk of heart attacks, strokes, Alzheimer’s disease, and some cancers.

Early treatment of infections also improves the prognosis of care.
Based on the examination, the dentist creates a treatment plan considering the patient’s needs and wishes regarding dental care. From this treatment plan, a cost estimate for the treatment is prepared for the patient to review.
The interval between dental check-ups is individual, determined by the dentist based on the condition of the mouth and teeth and the person’s overall health status. If the patient has a long-term illness, medication that causes dry mouth, or weakens the immune defense, it is generally good to keep the check-up interval short.

It is important to remember to care for loved ones who, for example, due to a memory disorder, cannot take care of their teeth themselves. In such cases, relatives need to take responsibility, as the deterioration of oral health weakens the overall condition and makes the person more susceptible to infections.

A healthy mouth and well-cared-for teeth are an important part of overall health and well-being.
